Here are some easy ways to be the ultimate sports parent.
Print and Post the Team Practice and Game Schedule. Never forget about another practice or game again and be your kids’ hero when you ask them about the next school they’re playing. Mark the biggest games and do a daily countdown to get everyone amped for the big day.
Surprise the team with snacks. Pick a random practice or game during the season to surprise the team with food. If you show up at the end of a practice or game wielding something tasty and a refreshment to wash it down with, the team will love you forever. Make sure to coordinate with the coach and other parents so you don’t double up. Easy go-tos include: GoGo squeeZ (duh), Rickland Orchards Greek Yogurt Granola Bars, juices, and WATER!
Finish off a game night with an epic meal. During fall sports season, it seems impossible to get your usual dinners on the table. Next time there’s a big game or match, prepare in advance so you’re not making a last minute, on-the-way-home Mickey D’s run. Cook the meal the day of and prepare it in such a way that the whole thing can be tossed in the oven for a quick post-game heat up. If you don’t have time during the day, look into wholesome delivery in your area and services like Blue Apron that make the process painless.
Take a bunch of photos, make an album. Throughout the season, make sure to bring your smartphone or camera whenever you are able to make it to a practice or game. Snap as many photos as you can and at the end of the season post them in a Facebook album or on a photo sharing site such as Flickr. Share the album with the rest of the team and give other parents access so they may upload their own.
